In August 1980, Korokke made his debut on NTV's "Owarai Star Tanjou" ("Comedy Star Birth"). While performing regularly on TV and radio, he toured the country with his impersonation concerts and headlined at major theaters, including Tokyo's Meijiza, Nagoya's Misonoza, Osaka's Shin-Kabukiza, and Fukuoka's Hakataza.
His repertoire now includes more than 300 impersonations, and he continues to innovate as an entertainer. He has incorporated robot performances, hip-hop dance, a unique blend of rakugo and impersonation called "Monomane Rakugo," and collaborations with opera companies and orchestras. His success has extended internationally, with performances across the United States—including Las Vegas—as well as China, South Korea, and Australia.
Korokke's talent has earned him numerous accolades, including the Asakusa Entertainment Award for New Talent, the Golden Arrow Award for Excellence in Entertainment, and the Matsuo Entertainment Award for Outstanding Performance in Theater in 2013. As his acting skills have matured through film and drama work, he has also established himself as a voice actor for anime and foreign productions. In June 2018, he made his leading film debut under his real name, Hiroshi Takigawa, in "Yuzuriha."
In recognition of his long-standing contributions to arts and culture through impersonation, he received the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Award in 2014. In February 2016, he was honored with the Japan Entertainment Award, where he was celebrated as an iconic figure in impersonation for his distinctive, Picasso-like ability to transform his features. Beyond entertainment, he has actively supported recovery efforts in areas affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake, earning a special letter of appreciation from the Minister of Defense in 2012.
